The President of Malta George Vella and Mrs Miriam Vella left Malta this morning for an official visit to Lithuania at the invitation of the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda.
During the visit, President Vella will have an official meeting with President Nausėda at the Presidential Palace in Vilnius. The President’s engagements also include official meetings with the Prime Minister of Lithuania Ingrida Šimonytė and with the speaker of the Seimas (Lithuanian Parliament) Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen.
The delegation of the President of Malta in Lithuania includes the Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights Alicia Bugeja Said.
While President George Vella is in Lithuania, Professor Frank Bezzina will serve as Acting President of Malta. The President and Mrs Vella will return to Malta on Thursday, 29 February 2024.
