The President of Malta George Vella and Mrs Miriam Vella left Malta this morning for a state visit to Ghana.
During the visit, President Vella will have an official meeting with the President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in Accra and an audience with the King of the Ashanti Empire in Ghana, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
Among other engagements in Ghana, the President and Mrs Vella will visit the HopeXchange Medical Centre in Kumasi.
The delegation of the President of Malta in Ghana includes the Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation, Keith Azzopardi Tanti.
The engagements of the President and Mrs Vella in Ghana will come to an end on Saturday 9th March. They will then travel to the United Kingdom to attend an event commemorating Commonwealth Day at the invitation of the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Baroness Patricia Scotland.
The President and Mrs Vella will return to Malta on Tuesday 12th March 2024. While President George Vella is abroad, Professor Frank Bezzina will serve as Acting President of Malta.
